Somewhere in between
786,
I've disappeared for a while. Hopefully, it won't happen a lot, God willing.
I was at the beach a few days ago, woke up at 3 am and went to shoot the stars.
Couldn't help but photograph the sea as well.
There's something about landscapes. So still so calm.
People are constantly moving and yet, everything around us enjoys that serenity that we humans seldom find.
Strange.

A little bit of Shakespeare...
786,
Simply beautiful...
from Hamlet Act 2 scene 2, as it appears in the 1623 First Folio. In modern form:
Doubt thou the stars are fire,
Doubt that the sun doth move,
Doubt truth to be a liar,
But never doubt I love.
Simply beautiful...

Imam al-Ghazali's last poem
786,
- Imam Ghazali woke up one early morning and as usual offered his prayers and then enquired what day it was, his younger brother, Ahmad Ghazali replied,"Monday." He asked him to bring his white shroud, kissed it, stretched himself full length and saying "Lord, I obey willingly," breathed his last.
And underneath his head rest they found the following verses; composed by him, probably, during the night.
"Say to my friends, when they look upon me, dead
Weeping for me and mourning me in sorrow
Do not believe that this corpse you see is myself
In the name of God, I tell you, it is not I,
I am a spirit, and this is naught but flesh
It was my abode and my garment for a time.
I am a treasure, by a talisman kept hid,
Fashioned of dust, which served me as a shrine,
I am a pearl, which has left it's shell deserted,
I am a bird, and this body was my cage
Whence I have now floron forth and it is left as a token
Praise to God, who hath now set me free
And prepared for me my place in the highest of the heaven,
Until today I was dead, though alive in your midst.
Now I live in truth, with the grave - clothes discarded.
Today I hold converse with the saints above,
With no veil between, I see God face to face.
I look upon "Loh-i-Mahfuz" and there in I read
Whatever was and is and all that is to be.
Let my house fall in ruins, lay my cage in the ground,
Cast away the talisman, it is a token, no more
Lay aside my cloak, it was but my outer garment.
Place them all in the grave, let them be forgotten,
I have passed on my way and you are left behind
Your place of abode was no deweling place for me.
Think not that death is death, nay, it is life,
A life that surpasses all we could dream of here,
While in this world, here we are granted sleep,
Death is but sleep, sleep that shall be prolonged
Be not frightened when death draweth night,
It is but the departure for this blessed home
Think of the mercy and love of your Lord,
Give thanks for His Grace and come without fear.
What I am now, even so shall you be
For I know that you are even as I am
The souls of all men come forth from God
The bodies of all are compounded alike
Good and evil, alike it was ours
I give you now a message of good cheer
May God's peace and joy for evermore be yours."

Drawings published in Zine Arcade #4!
786,
A few months ago, I got in touch with a fanzine artist by the name of Andrew Owen Johnston from the UK. He was gathering some drawings for his next zine issue. I was a day late, hoping that he would consider taking some of my work. Luckily, he told me to send him some stuff and voila!

Wow! Thanks so much for sending your images. I really love them! Can't wait for it, God willing. In the meantime here's a sneak peek at it from Andrew's website:
I especially like the observational sketches you do - they look so free and relaxed whilst containing just enough detail. I was also really impressed by your Guernica Remix.
I will make sure to find some room in the publication for your work and once it's all put together and been printed, I'll post you a copy.

Walsingham by Walter Ralegh (excerpts)
786,
Know that love is a careless child
And forgets promise past,
He is blind, he is deaf when he list
And in faith never fast.
His desire is a dureless content
And a trustless joy
He is won with a world of despair
And is lost with a toy.
Of womenkind such indeed is the love
Or the word Love abused
Under which many childish desires
And conceits are excused.
But true Love is a durable fire
In the mind ever burning;
Never sick, never old, never dead,
From itself never turning.

"Negative Capability"
786,
From the movie "Bright Star" by Jane Campion
From the movie "Bright Star" by Jane Campion
I still don't know how to work out a poem.
A poem needs understanding through the senses.
The point of diving in a lake is not immediately to swim to the shore but to be in the Lake,
to luxuriate in the sensation of water.
You do not work the lake out.
It is an experience beyond thought.
Poetry soothes and emboldens the soul to accept mystery.
I love mystery

middle of a random night
786,
We're just a couple of stoned, drugged up teenagers
Flying motorcycles in the sky
Full moons and fishes mouths...
Want to "stay safe and warm", want to "stay beautiful"*
Want it safe and warm, want it beautiful
Moonlit night
I realize that only You are Real
Want to go inside the whale's mouth and remember
May the companion care to join
*(as a friend would say)

Comic in progress
786,
Remember the project mentioned a couple of times a month or so before? ( in "Reading List Summer '11" and "Current Project")
Still in progress.
But now we're doing the adaptation of this scholar's work in modern times.
For Some1, Porcellino was a huge inspiration. But for this it's Manu Larcenet. Also one of my favorites.
His series "Le combat ordinaire" is always by my side. Like a reference.
For more info on him, click here
